Before choosing a logo, I first looked at topics that emphasize the vintage aspect of the project. By looking at various vintage logos and products I have been able to pick up on a few things.
What I soon noticed was that in many of these logos the name and the font are complemented by surrounding elements. Elements that are common include arrows, mountains and antlers. Because none of these elements are suited for my brand concept, I first decided to look for a nice name and font.
When I found the right name I started looking at how I could translate the brand concept into visuals. Because it is about a company that focuses on music equipment, I wanted to let this connection with music shine through in a beautiful way. This is already done in the name itself, but because this is not very clear at first sight, I wanted to add something to this. I also wanted the environmental friendliness to shine through in the logo. I had trouble with this because it was an aspect that was added later on.
The logo design overall turned out great, but there are a few changes I still wanted to make.
I still wasn't very happy with the part that communicates the environmental aspect. I felt like it wasn't a big enough part of the logo. Besides that I feel like the logo might be a little bit too detailed.
Because of this I decided to simplify it and break the logo up into a main logo and a small icon. The main logo will be displayed on the box of the products and on the website and things like that.
The icon (the upside down music note) will be used on the products and will also be displayed on the sides of my headphones.
